ST Math teaches foundational concepts by connecting ideas to visuals and later, language. This approach allows students to build conceptual understanding without encountering language barrier.
Help students build powerful problem solving skills in the state of Michigan through ST Math®.
Michigan's STEM Job Crisis
In a 2015 evaluation of Michigan schools, only 34% of 4th-graders and 29% of 8th-graders tested at or above a proficient level in math. By 2024, STEM jobs are estimated to grow by 16%, indicating a high demand to increase the pipeline of mathematically equipped students. How can we ensure that today's students are prepared to solve the world's most challenging problems? MIND Research Institute has a solution: our innovative ST Math program.

The Power of ST Math
Partners Can Help Michigan Students See the Math and Grow
MIND Research Institute and our partners are dedicated to our mission to ensure that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world's most challenging problems.
Through the generosity of our philanthropic partners, we are able to offer grants to schools and districts to assist them in acquiring the ST Math program. Donor funds are applied directly to the cost of the ST Math program with the goal of allowing more students to see the math and grow into their potential.
ST Math Grants for Michigan Schools
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, MIND Research Institute has grant opportunities for school communities in Michigan to receive the power of ST Math. The ST Math School Grants Program provides grant funds to our education partners to help cover the cost of the program. We encourage potential PreK-8 schools and districts to take the first step and apply through our initial application! Our team will then be in touch to schedule the next steps in the application process.

Our Current Michigan Partners
Ford Motor Company believes that in order to develop innovative products and technologies, we need a work force skilled in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). Ford continues to inspire and create positive mathematical experiences for Michigan school communities by helping students grow and reach their potential through our ST Math program. Ford volunteers also encourage students for STEAM careers while facilitating and playing math games with youth and families through MIND’s Family Math Night program.
ST Math was one of the first major STEM initiatives introduced by the regional alliance for middle school students to combat the issue on students falling behind in their proficiency levels with mathematics. Through a competitive grants process, districts received the power of ST Math by private donations from the Dow Chemical Company Foundation, the Dow Corning Foundation, Nexteer Automotive, the Saginaw Community Foundation, and the Bay Area Community Foundation. MIND and the Great Bay Lakes Regional Alliance continue to partner together to bring the power of ST Math to more Michigan students so they can grow their mathematical mindsets and competencies.
With a strategic focus on STEM education, General Motors' goal is to facilitate the development of a qualified and diverse STEM workforce, encourage presence, achievement and persistence in STEM education and careers, and support greater participation of underrepresented population groups. The long-term vision is to use STEM education as a springboard to increase the number of students with employable labor skills for careers in STEM. That’s why General Motors is investing in ST Math for Michigan’s 3rd-8th grade students so they can grow into their math potential.
ST Math grants are now available for Michigan schools and districts serving 3rd-8th grade students – apply now!
